ThKanye West, who has written a song claiming that he is a god, has recently teamed up Kirk Franklin to write what he says will be a gospel album called, "So Help Me God". In this interview, Kanye stated that the album will be an album, "with a whole lot of cursing on it." He also stated that Kirk Franklin had gone through the album with him.
Despite Franklin's involvement, Kanye also said in that interview, "It's not exactly what happened in the Bible." West continued to say that God is helping him, and that his late mother and late father-in-law are also helping him from Heaven (One can only speculate as to what he means, possibly in a Catholic form of mediation).
While Franklin has helped Kanye West to write an album that has a lot of profanity in it, the Bible teaches us to avoid such language. Colossians 3:8 (ESV) says, "But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth." This album, if Kanye's words are correct, will be a prime example of James 3:10 (ESV). "From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so."
The question must also be asked if a Christian should work together with an unbeliever. Please consider this verse while pondering that.
"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14, ESV)
